Making a difference
The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) has granted the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry a full eight-year accreditation, the maximum length of accreditation awarded.

Making a difference
Despite a flat NIH budget nationally in 2007, funding to the School of Medicine and Dentistry rose this year by almost 12%, which brought Rochester’s NIH ranking to #25 among U.S. medical schools. This is a tribute to the innovative research being conducted by our faculty.

Your experience in Rochester has no doubt shaped the way you practice, and your overall approach to the profession of medicine. To help maintain the high level of excellence in medical education that you experienced at the Univeristy of Rochester, we rely on alumni like you for support.

For today’s medical students, options are opportunities for growth and success. Giving our students the widest range of options is the goal of the SMD Annual Fund, which is targeted toward providing need-based and merit-based scholarships. A medical school education is much more expensive now than it was in the past: the average debt shouldered by graduates is $130,000.

Remember how important it was to choose the right specialty. Gifts from alumni like you will help current students reduce their debt, and will give them the opportunity to choose a specialty based on need, interest, and ability, rather than the potential salary.

Your gift will make a difference.

If you have already made a gift, thank you!
