Hi there –

Like you, I am a recent (by some standards!) graduate of Tulane – I graduated in 2000. If you haven’t given to Tulane recently, I would like to share with you three important reasons to give right now.

First, to maintain the value of your degree...
Tulane’s ranking and the ongoing value of our diplomas are to a large part based on the number of alumni who give to the University. While the amount of alumni giving in dollar terms matters, what is most critical in determining college rankings is the number of alumni who give. That means that every gift, whether it is $10, $25 or $75 goes a long way toward maintaining the prestige of your hard-earned Tulane diploma.

Second, for the good of New Orleans...
Gifts to the Tulane Fund are absolutely necessary to maintain and increase the university’s current rankings, but they are also crucial to the revival of New Orleans. Tulane remains the largest employer in the city, and through a variety of cutting-edge initiatives, such as the Center for Public Service, the neighborhood health centers, the Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives, and URBANbuild, the university has proven to be an integral component of the region’s recovery. If you are interested in being part of the city’s most innovative programs focused on improving city schools, increasing the availability of healthcare or building affordable housing, then giving to Tulane is one of the best ways to do so.

Finally, we'll match your gift!
Certain of your fellow Tulane’s Graduates Of the Last Decade (GOLD alumni) feel it is so important to see a significant increase in new young alumni donors that they are willing to match 100% of your gifts up to $150,000 between now and June 30, 2009. This means your gift will have double its impact. In fact, if 2,009 GOLD alumni each give $75 today, we will have raised $300,000 and dramatically increased GOLD alumni participation!

So give now...

...however much you can afford and for whichever reason makes sense to you.

Thank you,
David Barksdale TC ‘00
