Dear Tulane friend,

I am a graduate of Tulane’s class of 2009 – the class who arrived on campus that humid day in August of 2005 to be told to turn around because the hurricane was on its way. Now as I graduate and leave Tulane, I find myself reflecting on the past four years with pride. Our first day was marked with an experience that no other class in the history of Tulane endured; however, the four years that followed reaffirmed to my classmates and me that Tulane is a community in which students, faculty, alumni, staff, and friends all come together in support of one another. From the post-Katrina clean up, to the newly renovated Lavin Bernick Center and Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, the Tulane community has worked tirelessly to provide campus improvements, advancements in technology, student life, scholarships, faculty support and much more. The support of alumni and friends like you played an essential role in these efforts because tuition only covers about 40% of the cost of educating each student.

These are tough times financially, but our community has proven that it can endure just about anything if we work together. I made my gift this year, and I hope you will join me by supporting Tulane before June 30th. Our gifts will ensure that Tulane remains a strong university and an integral component of the region’s recovery. And based on my own experience, I can tell you that your gift of any amount will make a difference in the life of a Tulane student.

Sincerely,

Laura Buck
