This precedent-setting accomplishment is one of many achievements that UAA is celebrating today! Recent student success includes the naming of our first ever Marshall Scholar and our fourth Truman Scholar in four consecutive years. Both prestigious scholarships are given to students showing great leadership potential and academic excellence. The Truman Scholarship is worth $30,000 and the Marshall Scholarship provides recipients with two fully-funded years of study in the United Kingdom.   This year UAA broke ground on a new Health Sciences Building, a state-of-the-art facility that will provide cutting-edge classroom and lab space for future nurses, doctors and other health care professionals.   UAA expands its international efforts by forming a new Confucius Institute, the first of its kind in Alaska, and one of only 32 in the nation. The Institute will provide additional Chinese language and cultural programs at UAA as well as additional educational and business partnerships across the state.
