Lindsay, I hope this e-newsletter has been informative and has helped you to further understand what we do here at the Office of Annual Giving. Even though you are not on campus, you are an integral part of the FIU community. After all, none of our achievements would be possible without the generous support and contributions of our alumni and friends.

The Annual Fund is made up of thousands of individual unrestricted gifts that are used to support FIU's primary missions of teaching, research and service. These annual gifts are among the most important and valuable to FIU because they can be used where the need is greatest. These gifts also help the University meet unexpected challenges, take advantage of unusual opportunities and support general operating expenses. The state of Florida currently ranks in the bottom five in the United States for funding to state Universities. While tuition and fees help, FIU still needs to seek other support from friends and alumni like you.
